How to compost

Ø The natural breakdown of organic matter over time.
Ø Reduces methane emissions compared to landfill.
Ø Reduces food waste as packaging and food waste can all go in one bin to be commercially composted.
Ø Creates nutrient-rich fertiliser and improves agriculture as composting can create healthy soils, which in turn promotes higher yields of agricultural crops.
Ø Majority of compostable packaging requires an industrial composter which we have limited facilities of in the UK.
Ø Even if not composted; using certified compostable packaging is still a good option as it is not made from fossil fuels like conventional plastic packaging and secondly, it’s made from renewable materials, like corn and sugarcane.

A multi-step, closely monitored composting process with measured inputs of water, air, temperature, carbon and nitrogen-rich materials. Using a specialist in-vessel composting facility.

Using a vessel like a traditional composting bin, tumbler or vermicompost (worm farm) in your backyard. This occurs over a period of months, sometimes years depending on the product.
